Organizers of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games have announced initiatives to offer free condoms, mental health resources and cyberbullying support to athletes in the Olympic Village.

Organizers in charge of first aid said that 200,000 male condoms, 20,000 female condoms and 10,000 oral dams will be available in the Olympic Village, where 14,500 athletes and staff are expected to stay in July and August.

“There is a desire to be very inclusive, we have awareness messages which revolve around the issue of consent and pleasure versus performance,” the First Aid Coordinator Laurent Dalard said in a press conference

Australian Olympic Committee stalwart Andrew ‘The Admiral’ Plympton has died aged 74 following a long battle with lung cancer.

A sailing world champion in 1988, he continued sailing until only a few weeks before his death.

Plympton was a long-time president of Australian Sailing and also served on the executive of the AOC, while he is credited with helping revive Australian sailing on the biggest stage.

2024 Olympic Games: IOC criticizes ‘extremely aggressive’ Russian claims

Russia’s response to a ban on its athletes from the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games has been “extremely aggressive”, says the International Olympic Committee.

The ruling body’s president, Thomas Bach, has also suffered personal attacks, it added.

Russian and Belarusian athletes were banned from taking part in the opening ceremony at the 2024 Games in Paris, by the IOC on Tuesday.

Russia has been critical of the IOC.

The country’s foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday the IOC had “slipped into racism and neo-Nazism”.

The 2024 Japanese Olympic Trials concluded last week from Tokyo with the competition representing the sole opportunity for the nation’s swimmers to qualify for this year’s Games in Paris.

Now that the dust has settled, a total of 27 swimmers have been named to the Japanese roster including 14 men and 13 women.

33-year-old Satomi Suzuki is the oldest athlete on the roster while the younger end of the spectrum includes 17-year-olds Mio Narita, Tatsuya Murasa, Mizuki Hirai.
