Racing in the finals of the men’s 1500m free, Kim Woomin fired off a time of 14:58.03 to take the gold.

Organizers of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games have announced initiatives to offer free condoms, mental health resources and cyberbullying support to athletes in the Olympic Village.

Organizers in charge of first aid said that 200,000 male condoms, 20,000 female condoms and 10,000 oral dams will be available in the Olympic Village, where 14,500 athletes and staff are expected to stay in July and August.

“There is a desire to be very inclusive, we have awareness messages which revolve around the issue of consent and pleasure versus performance,” the First Aid Coordinator Laurent Dalard said in a press conference

Olympic review calls for $2.7b Gabba rebuild to be scrapped for a $3.4b stadium at Victoria Park

A review of Queensland’s Olympic infrastructure is set to recommend scrapping the $2.7 billion Gabba redevelopment.

The plan to rebuild the stadium is now likely to cost $3 billion and should be scrapped in favor of a new, “marginally more expensive” stadium at Victoria Park in Herston, an independent review of Brisbane’s Olympic infrastructure has found.

The Queensland government has rejected an independent Olympic infrastructure review’s call to build a new multi-billion-dollar stadium in Brisbane’s Victoria Park.

Premier Steven Miles appointed former lord mayor Graham Quirk to spearhead the 60-day review in January amid concerns about the cost of some venues, including the $2.7 billion Gabba rebuild.

The review — released on Monday — has recommended replacing the Gabba rebuild plan, which is likely to cost $3 billion, with a new “greenfield” stadium at Victoria Park at a “marginally” higher cost of up to $3.4 billion.

Russian and Belarusian athletes barred from participating in opening ceremonies of Paris Olympics

The International Olympic Committee on Tuesday barred athletes from Russia and Belarus from participating in opening ceremonies in Paris as organizers target countries that were “responsible for the war” in Ukraine.

Athletes from those nations, though no teams, would be allowed to compete in individual events as “Individual Neutral Athletes,” or “AINs.”
