2032 Brisbane Olympic Games cancellation ‘fake news’, IOC boss says

Reports Brisbane could cancel the 2032 Olympic Games were “mere speculation,” according to the International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach.

Mr Bach told the media it was made very clear that there had been no mention of canceling the Games in any conversations that they had with the Queensland government.

“Was some kind of fake news apparently,” he said.

Speculation that the state government would cancel the Games grew after the Premier Steven Miles announced plans to scrap the redevelopment of the Gabba stadium.
