Microsoft adds Cloud for Healthcare data and AI enhancements

New tools announced this week enable Microsoft Cloud for Healthcare users to access, analyze and visualize data-driven insights across their organization through Fabric architecture, find multilingual support for text analytics, and leverage three new artificial intelligence models in Azure.

The cloud provider also said more users will have the chance to try Azure AI Health Bot, a generative artificial intelligence assistant that can glean information from unstructured text, while select partners using Fabric will have a chance to preview de-identification services.

HHS Office for Civil Rights Issues Resources for Health Care Providers and Patients to Help Educate Patients about Telehealth and the Privacy and Security of Protected Health Information

Today, the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) at the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), issued two resource documents to help explain to patients the privacy and security risks to their protected health information (PHI) when using telehealth services and ways to reduce these risks.

Going from emergency department to hospital bed takes more than twice as long in PEI, study says

The length of time Islanders spent in PEI emergency departments last year waiting to be admitted to hospital was more than double the national average, according to new data.

In the provincial legislature on Thursday, interim Green Party leader Karla Bernard questioned the PC government about the Canadian Institute for Health Information numbers that were released this week.

In the period from April to September 2023, the median time PEI patients waited to be admitted to hospital was 35 hours, compared to 14 hours nationally.
