Funding in the amount of €425,393 has been approved to Mayo Local Sports Partnership for 2024.

The funding includes €15,000 for Women in Sport projects in Mayo.

Mayo Fine Gael TD Michael Ring confirmed the news this morning.

“I am delighted to confirm that funding in the amount of €425,393 has been approved to the Mayo Local Sports Partnership for 2024. 2024 will see the highest ever level of Core investment into National Governing Bodies of Sport and Local Sports Partnerships,” Deputy Ring said . “€17.3 million investment for 58 National Governing Bodies of Sport and €11.4 million investment for 29 Local Sports Partnerships. There is an increase of €1.3 million on the 2023 figure for the National Governing Bodies and an increase of €1 million for the Local Sports Partnerships throughout the country.

“The Government’s increased investment in core funding for 2024, and in recent years, will assist in ensuring the long-term sustainability of our sporting organisations. The continued increase in core funding for sports bodies demonstrates the Government’s commitment to supporting Irish sport and will ensure that sports bodies can continue to provide valuable opportunities for everyone to participate in sport, in line with our National Sports Policy.

“Around the country, Local Sports Partnerships are doing excellent work in supporting participation in sport and physical activity, at local level. The benefits of sport are huge and this increased funding will continue to ensure that the benefits are felt throughout the country” concluded Mr Ring.

Mayo TD Alan Dillon also welcomed the news.

“I welcome this allocation of over €425,000 in the county for core and program funding. Mayo Sports Partnership is at the heart of sport in Mayo and is key to achieving our aim of increasing participation in sport across Mayo. “This significant investment will support the implementation of important programs and activities across a diverse range of sports throughout the county,” Deputy Dillon said.
